Erin Harris: Aligning Personal Values with Meaningful Action

Erin Harris embodies the initiative and energy Doing Good enjoys seeing in volunteers. Eight months ago, she founded Un/Do Mindset, a nonprofit organization dedicated to mental health education and trauma recovery. A former teacher, Erin’s passion for this project is both inspiring and deeply personal. Her teaching career came to a heartbreaking end due to a school shooting, a traumatic event that took a toll on her mental health. After prioritizing her own recovery, she emerged with a renewed sense of purpose and hit the ground running.

This mission of Un/Do Mindset is to make mental health care and education accessible to everyone. Erin recognizes the benefits of mental health care have no limits and is committed to extending these benefits to diverse communities. Her initiatives include bringing mental health education to schools and expanding access to underserved populations, such as the homeless and incarcerated. Erin’s vision doesn’t stop there—she’s also working on efforts to bring her mission to a global audience.

While Un/Do Mindset is Erin’s current passion, it’s far from her first experience as a volunteer. During her teaching career, Erin frequently gave her time to help others. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, she and her family took action to support their community. They worked tirelessly to feed the transient population and organized donations of 3D printers and supplies to ensure first responders had the resources they needed during a critical time.

Erin’s story is a testament to the power of resilience and compassion. Her dedication to mental health education and trauma recovery is making a profound difference, and her efforts continue to inspire those around her.
