Dr. Tom Seals lives a life of service. From serving in the military to serving God, veterans, and his wife, 85-year-old Dr. Seals is an inspiration and motivation.
His relationship with God informed his life choices. He began his military career as a young Marine where he carried out clandestine work and served in multiple countries. Later, he graduated from school, began teaching, and started authoring books. During his educational career with Lipscomb University, he was “volun-told” to work with veterans who were students. This experience influenced his founding God’s Word for Warriors, a 501c3 nonprofit, to serve veterans and their families.
Now in his volunteer career, Dr. Seals serves as the organization’s executive director. He leads, manages, and directs paid staff and volunteers. He also carries out its community outreach, often through public speaking. And, of course, he personally serves veterans and their families by “dealing with their moral and spiritual injury, suicide, depression, anger management, [and] relationships” through God’s Word for Warriors. “We need to help each other to carry the load,” he says.
Listen to the podcast to hear specifics about each of his career choices, passions, and a variety of veteran stories and resources including suicide, trauma, and a glimpse into what lives look like after dealing with these issues and more. After all, “it is good and healthy for us all, veterans included, to reach out and serve others, as well as to allow others to serve ourselves.”
