Former Student with Autism Now Teaching Digital Literacy

Educating the community is essential because technology is deeply integrated into our daily lives.

March 31, 2026

Nashville, TN; March 31: Volunteer IT Instructor Paul Wayne Jackson, Jr., shares his experience volunteering for Tech 4 All educating communities in rural Tennessee through courses.

He says, “It’s never too late to learn. And if not, you can always seek someone out at a community center or a church. There’s always someone who’s going to help you through it, even if you feel alone.”

Educating the community is essential because technology is deeply integrated into our daily lives. Jackson’s volunteer work enables people to stay up to date with consistently changing technology. Additionally, it serves as a means to protect vulnerable individuals from digital threats. With a Master’s degree, Paul went from student to teacher when he became a volunteer at Tech 4 All. Despite autism, giving back to the community gave him a chance to share his personality and amazing ideas, helping the community learn new things. He sought out an opportunity to gain more experience while helping people in the process.

Jackson’s passion for technology led him to apply his professional skills to creating classes that help people learn how to fix computer problems. In rural Tennessee, Tech 4 All serves regional counties by helping people gain basic skills of  understanding what a mouse or a keyboard is. As an instructor, Jackson often teaches basic computer skills, making the curriculum an effective educational tool with a 99% success rate in digital literacy. Sometimes the people he serves are those who haven’t used computers in years or even decades, including veterans, people with disabilities, or economically disadvantaged populations.
