“Hospitality isn’t just a table setting—it’s a way of life.”
This week on the Doing Good Podcast, host Megan McInnis sat down with Corisa “Pine” Lewis, a Nashville native whose warmth and service have touched nearly every corner of her community. A mother of five, grandmother of seventeen, and great-grandmother of one, Pine has built her life around feeding others—both literally and figuratively.
A Family Tradition of Giving
Pine’s journey began at home. When her daughters were young, she involved them in holiday giving—packing gift bags and choosing toys and clothes for families who needed a little extra cheer. That family spirit of generosity has stayed with her ever since.
After the devastating Nashville storms, Pine joined community members at the Magruder Center, distributing water, food, and supplies to neighbors in need. She later picked up a hammer with Habitat for Humanity, helping her best friend build her own home.
Feeding the Community, One Event at a Time
Through her business, Pineapples Food Service and Events, Pine has turned her love of food into a ministry of service. Whether she’s volunteering at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, helping at community gardens, or greeting attendees at Nashville Pride, she’s always ready to serve.
“I just like giving my time,” she said. “If I see a post saying volunteers are needed, I sign up and go.”
Supporting Small Nonprofits with Big Impact
Pine’s generosity extends to smaller grassroots organizations too. She’s supported her daughter’s nonprofit, Moms on a Mission, which uplifts single mothers through fellowship and resources. As a board member for Friends Against Fentanyl, she’s helped distribute life-saving Narcan kits and raise awareness about the fentanyl crisis.
She’s also a proud graduate and former facilitator of Corner to Corner, giving back each year on Giving Tuesday, and serves on the committee for the 37208 Fund, a participatory grantmaking group supporting projects in North Nashville. From backpack drives to scholarships, Pine helps ensure the 37208 community continues to thrive.
Hospitality as a Way of Life
Whether donating 800 sack lunches to Men of Valor, creating a charcuterie table for Second Chance Solutions, or mentoring fellow entrepreneurs, Pine’s service overflows with heart. She believes anyone can experience the same fulfillment she has.
In Pine’s world, hospitality means showing up, sharing what you have, and feeding both the body and the soul. And in true Nashville spirit, she continues to do just that—one meal, one smile, and one act of kindness at a time.
